- Commission: the V-shaped emblem. Personal extension: custom-type wordmark, illustrated characters, palette, menus and wine list, tableware, textiles, wine label

Vignarella commissioned a logo from me: the V-shaped emblem. I then took the project further on my own initiative, imagining what the restaurant's full identity could be.
A restaurant, not a brand name. That's where it all started with Vignarella: my challenge wasn't to design a pleasant logo, but to give shape to a personality. That of a place that claims its roots, its regional cooking, and a way of welcoming people that makes no apology for being generous.

My choice: a bold character, carved from a single block — a condensed, dense typeface that fills the space with the assurance of a name cut in stone. It carries the name Vignarella like a statement.

I built the identity around three signs. The condensed typeface asserts the name. The monogram — two Vs and two Rs merged in a heraldic gesture to form a glass — acts as the house stamp: discreet on the tableware, assertive in a cartouche. Finally, the illustrated characters, figures from the Commedia dell'arte given a Corsican twist, bring what graphics alone cannot: movement, warmth, and just the right amount of humour.

Deep forest green and ivory cream. Just two colours, yet they carry everything: the seriousness of the place, the warmth of the meal, the patina of a house built to last.

Typography is at the heart of the project, and it exists nowhere else: drawn to measure. Condensed and high-contrast, it borrows from vintage posters and bistro signage while staying resolutely contemporary. Each letter holds a tension between mass and elegance, between the weight of tradition and the precision of a controlled stroke. It's what gives the name its immediate presence: you read it, you recognise it, you don't forget it.
